Tuesday blues

Hello my dears,

I'm a bit sad today. My boyfriend left this morning for his work in Egypt. He's an archaeologist/egyptologist and went on a dig near the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. As usual, he'll be working in the funerary temple of Amenhotep III (Akhenaten's father and Tutankhamen's grandfather). He'll be away for almost two months. It's not that long when you think of it but it seems like an eternity when you are in love.

I'll be home alone for the next few weeks and I guess I'll go all polish crazy, hauling and applying like a maniac, night and day, well I hope not too much for the sake of my digits (bank and nail related!).

Anyways, I wanted to share with you a gorgeous polish he bought me before leaving: Essie's Sweet Talker.
Not much to say about this beauty...it's gorgeousness speaks for itself.

2 easy coats of a great formula filled with discreet shimmer.

Voilà:

Do you have a preferred color that you wear when you are sad?

Minaj gone matte

Hi,

Quick post today as I'm exhausted. We had a birthday party for my boyfriend last night and the last guests left at 4:30 AM. Great evening!

I had Essie's Sew Psyched on my nails for the party but it started chipping as I was doing the post-party cleanup. Being to lazy to change my polish, I added two thin layers of OPI's Metallic 4 life over Sew Psyched, then mattified the whole using Essie's Matte about you.

I'm pretty happy with the end result! How about you?

Angel coral

Hello lovely lacquer lovers,

I have some exciting news: I've finally found my perfect angel coral polish! I've been looking for a shade like this for ages, in vain.

The lucky winner is Sinful Colors' Poudre (powder in English).

Poudre's formula was excellent! I wasn't expecting it to be this good. I even got a backup because I love it so much and am afraid of running out of it.

I applied two very thin coats to reach opacity, followed by a topcoat (I forgot which one).

Here it is:

All pictures were taken indoors in artificial lighting.

The angel coral is the lightest cabochon.

Isn't Poudre a beauty?

More sunshine with the "It" Color

Hello lovely readers and fellow lacquer lovers,

Having a nice Sunday?

We finally had a little sun here this weekend but not enough for my taste so I decided to prolong the warm rays on my tips using OPI's The "it" color from the Brights collection.

This polish isn't as opaque as Happy Go Lucky and needed 4 thin coats to reach perfect opacity. Nevertheless, the formula was fine.

Here it is in all it's sunny splendor:

Sunshine at my fingertips

Hello lovelies,

In the midst of winter I felt the urge to feel warm and see the sun indoors as I've been stuck in my books preparing an exam since me return from Cuba.

What better polish to fulfill this need than China Glaze's Happy Go Lucky?

I've tried a few yellow polishes but think this is one of the best. It's opaque in two coats and doesn't leave any streaks, bubbles or bald patches.

The color is absolutely gorgeous but I must admit it's distracting me a bit from my work... Anyways, I'm pretty sure it's boosting my serotonin level!

OPI's Lucky lucky lavendar. My lucky color?

Hi lacquer lovers,

I did something unusual yesterday, I bought a polish I was sure was going to look terrible on me but I was so attracted to it that I had to give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. Ever since I polished my nails with it yesterday I can't stop staring at my fingers. Several people, total strangers, even asked me what shade I was wearing.

The polish in question is OPI's Lucky lucky lavendar. The name doesn't suit the shade as you can clearly see this polish is far from being lavendar toned. I'd say it's more a wild cherry blossom or a pink lilac.

The formula was great: 2 easy coats followed by Sèche Vite (no shrinkage).

What do you think of this polish?

Thanks for reading.

Oh I've been bad! + OPI's Tasmanian devil made me do it.

Hi dears,

I've been bad and bought quite a few polishes yesterday :)

Check them out!

From left to right:
Play the peonies, Mimosas for Mr & Mrs, The "it" color, Hot & spicy, Tasmanian devil made me do it.

Lemon fizz, Four leaf clover, Mom's chiffon, High hopes

Oxygen, Knotty, Gelato

I don't know what went wrong today but I must have been under some kind of Friday the 13th polish curse... Yeah right! (giggles)
I had to do my nails 4 times because I messed my polish up 3 times! That never happens to me, I don't know what went wrong. It made me nuts! Grrr + eyeroll :)

I changed color each time to eradicate the curse and here is the end result using OPI's Tasmanian devil made me do it.

The formula was excellent: 2 coats that glided on so easily and were absolutely opaque (you might have noticed but I really dislike visible nail line and will do pretty much any necessary number of layers to eliminate that problem).

The color is very bright and in my imagination reflects what a shrimp under extasy would look like!

Have you tried this beauty?

Thanks for reading and have a nice Friday.

Essie's Borrowed and blue

Hello again,

I guess I'm really jet-lagged because I forgot to include the pictures in my latest post... Problem fixed now! Sorry about that :)

Essie's Borrowed and blue + Kreative Blogger Award

Hello lacquer lovers,

To show off my slight tan I thought I'd wear a bright pastel polish and chose Essie's Borrowed and Blue, a light creamy baby blue.

I got this one a while back but was waiting to get some color on my skin before showing it to you.

The formula was great, not chalky, streaky or bubbly whatsoever. I applied three coats but you could easily get away with 2. For my topcoat I used Sèche Vite and am glad to say there was absolutely no shrinkage in sight.

I really like this blue. Have any of you guys tried it?

I will take advantage of this post to thank the gorgeous Ami of Pistols and Cobras for giving me the Kreative Blogger Award. Thanks so much for thinking of me my dear!

    Back from Cuba

    Hello my dears!

How have you all been doing? Did your year start off well?

I just got back from 12 days in Cuba and had an excellent vacation. The weather was oddly chilly as a cold front came down from Canada but nevertheless, it was way better than the freezing cold temperatures we have in Switzerland. I was ill when I left and came back even sicker (sinus infection and pharyngitis...) but I enjoyed every moment of this memorable trip and think I'm going to start saving my pennies to go back soon!

Cuba is one of the most beautiful islands I've ever been too and the people over there are so nice. We rented a car and moved around quite a bit to exciting places like Havana, Pinales, Las Terrazas, Pinar del Rio and finished off our trip on the white sand beaches of Varadero, which is usually full of tourists but we found a secluded hotel and didn't even see them really.

Here are a couple of pictures of our trip:

Thanks for all your comments on my scheduled posts and welcome to my new subscribers. I didn't check my emails when in Cuba so I'll reply to all comments in the next few days.

Did any of you polish lovers go anywhere for the holidays?

    Besito.
